Issue 7: Questions

Questions-Cover---Final-Draft
For the Questions issue we are turning our focus from the outside world and bringing it inward. Each day for 100 days we will step out into the world and meet with one person. We will ask each person we meet the same 12 questions. At the end of 100 days we hope to capture our collective voice within this interwoven web of dialog.

Day 66: Jesse Jackson

Interview #66: Jesse Jackson
Interview #66: Jesse Jackson

What do you do for a living?

I’m a musician and a songwriter

What do you do to feel alive?

That’s a good question. I play music with other people and ride horses.

A lesson you learned from your mother:

To always be kind.

A lesson you learned from your father:

There’s so many good ones…To call ahead. To plan.

What’s the most beautiful thing you saw today?

That gong (in your living room)

What’s one thing you wouldn’t want anyone to take away from you?

I don’t know how to narrow that down to one thing…my abilities – choices – my senses.

What’s a thought you would like to never have again?

“I’m going to do this myself.”

If you could become an inanimate object what would it be?

I’d be an armoire

When do you feel most loved?

The last time I felt loved was the last time I allowed myself to feel loved.

If your life were to end tomorrow what would be left undone?

My life would be “undone” – not necessarily things or projects or relationships – my existence is what will end. I’m also tempted to say nothing because I had a life. I was born. I experienced life and if my life were over then, nothing. My life would be complete. I do want to sky dive though.

What global issue would you take on if you didn’t have to worry about how?

I’d rather leave that to people who do that kind of thing. I don’t know if I would want that responsibility.

What’s the scariest thing that ever happened to you?

I really can’t talk about that.
