Issue 7: Questions

Questions-Cover---Final-Draft
For the Questions issue we are turning our focus from the outside world and bringing it inward. Each day for 100 days we will step out into the world and meet with one person. We will ask each person we meet the same 12 questions. At the end of 100 days we hope to capture our collective voice within this interwoven web of dialog.

Day 48: Lauren Taylor

Interview #48: Lauren Taylor
Interview #48: Lauren Taylor

What do you do for a living?

I train horses and teach riding lessons.

What do you do to feel alive?

Go out and experience new things as well as the typical girl thing, which is get dressed up, look pretty and get hit on. Depends on the situation and the mood behind it.

A lesson you learned from your mother:

Choose your husband/life partner wisely.

A lesson you learned from your father:

Alcoholism is a problem.

What’s the most beautiful thing you saw today?

Sunflowers

What’s one thing you wouldn’t want anyone to take away from you?

My house

What’s a thought you would like to never have again?

“It it really him?” or “Is this really happening?”

If you could become an inanimate object what would it be?

A computer

When do you feel most loved?

When I come home from a long day at work cranky and covered in crap, sweat and horse hair and still get told “I love you” and receive acceptance despite my flaws and ugliness.

If your life were to end tomorrow what would be left undone?

I don’t know – I’m content right now.

What global issue would you take on if you didn’t have to worry about how?

Mental health issues. The lack of understanding around the mentally ill and the fact that they are not cared for the way that they should be. For example the Baker Act only puts people under custody for 12 hours. There are many people wandering the streets who cannot take care of themselves and shouldn’t be there.

What’s the scariest thing that ever happened to you?

It’s too personal to share.
