I’ve been following Jedidiah’s journey somewhere in the middle of his trek from Oregon to Patagonia when a friend of his insisted I start following him. Each day a picture, a musing, a poem, a raw description would pop up on my Instagram feed and without fail I would be in the midst of some petty upset or mundane moment of my day. The post would startle me awake and rattle a little corner of my heart that was in the process of closing off in reaction to all the surmounting stresses. His words would evoke instant compassion. Of course there would be an impossibly incredible photo – as only the perfect polish of Instagram can deliver – but coupled with the otherworldliness of that image would be the words of of a humble man with feet pinned closely to the ground and taking note of the world from the innermost chambers of his heart. “Jed”, as his friends call him is in the process of writing a book about his journey. This, I can tell you, will not be a book about his travels – it will be a handbook on how to interact with the world from the place we are all seeking more than any exotic corner of the earth – our truth.
